Douglas County Wildfire Has Grown to 1,000 acres

Pateros, Wash. (ap) - a wildfire across the Columbia River from Pateros in Douglas County has grown to 1,000 acres in size.

A fire management team from Spokane is setting up an operations center Thursday in Bridgeport to coordinate firefighting efforts.the fire broke out Wednesday afternoon and quickly spread to 700 acres - more than a square mile - in grass, brush, scattered timber and some wheat land. about 150 firefighters are on the scene.

Douglas county deputies say one house near the fire is under an evacuation alert, but no structures have been lost.
