Don’t Worry About That Pay Raise – Money Can’t Buy Happiness (Unless You’re Murdoch)
There’s another study out that talks about the relationship between money and happiness. We can all agree a certain amount of money seems really important, especially if your name is Bernie Sanders and you don’t have any of it of your own but I digress.
European researchers tracked 18,000 adults from the U.K. and Germany over a nine-year period asking participants about their income and general sense of satisfaction with life.
You can see the ending coming as scientists found people with higher salaries are no more likely to have high life satisfaction than those who had lower salaries.
This hold true for people in economically developed countries where the bottom line standard of living is comfortable.
So what works if cold hard cash does not? You might see this one coming too—“time with family and friends, looking after our mental and physical health, and obtaining a greater understanding of ourselves and trying to develop and grow”. (Daily Mail)
