Three residents and a firefighter were injured this morning in a mobile home fire in the 1200 block of West Washington Avenue in the Sun Meadows Mobile Home Park. Capt. Jeff Pfaff says when firefighters arrived at about 3:50 a.m. they found three people, two residents of the burned home and a neighbor who tried to help. All were injured. "They were out of the house but went back inside to look for a dog and that's when they were injured."
Pfaff says the dog that woke the residents after spotting the flames belonged to a relative and had been in the home for only about three days. That dog survived. Two others died in the fire. A firefighter was also suffered an eye injury. He and the others were taken to a local hospital where the firefighter was treated and released. The others suffered burns and smoke inhalation. Two homes were damaged in the fire including 2 vehicles. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
