Ever dream about your dog? It wouldn’t surprise me. Yakima is about the most dog lovin’ place I have ever lived. BUT – do you think your dog has ever dreamt about you? Researchers say dogs in fact do dream like people do!

Dr. Nicholas Dodman is a professor of animal behavior who says there is a lot in common between a person and their pooch. He’s quoted in the UK Daily Mail saying, "Our brains are similar, our neurochemistry the same, and our reflexes and memory are 'wired' in like manner." So many jokes, so little time.

There’s also some new information that indicates dogs experience rapid eye movement (REM) just like humans do which is probably when they dream the most.

Dog dream studies indicate small dogs dreaming more often but for short periods of time while large dogs have longer dreams less often. Our family has one of each so there’s probably always some kind of dog dreaming going on at our place!

So what are they dreaming about. I don’t know how they know but experts also say it's likely dogs dream about things that happen in their day-to-day lives, just like we do. (Da
