Doc Hastings Visits Local Business About Health Care

As more elements of the Affordable Care Act take effect, many local businesses will have new rules to follow.

Congressman Doc Hastings visited Yakima Steel Fabricators on E. Washington Ave. Tuesday to discuss how the Affordable Care Act will affect their employees. Rep. Hastings met with company leaders privately, but told KNDO News afterward that Tuesday's visit gave him a first-hand look at the effects of the new law.

"I thought it would be worthwhile for me to sit down and talk to somebody that is and will be impacted by the increasing costs of this law," Rep. Hastings said.

Hastings says the Affordable Care Act will raise costs for small businesses but supporters claim it will allow more people to get affordable insurance coverage.
