Fourth District Congressman Doc Hastings is endorsing Dan Newhouse in the race for the seat Hastings is giving up at the end of the year.
"I'm supporting Dan Newhouse for Congress because we need a conservative who will fight for Central Washington priorities," Hastings explained today. "Dan's experience as a state legislator taught him the importance of controlling spending and balancing budgets. His work as a third-generation family farmer taught him the value of local control and sound science in land-use decisions. And growing up in Central Washington, he learned about the need for more water storage in this area and the responsibility of the federal government to clean up Hanford. He'll be our advocate."

Congressman Hastings of Pasco currently represents Central Washington in Congress.  He is retiring at the end of this year, and Newhouse, from Sunnyside, is running for the open congressional seat. Hastings and Newhouse made the endorsement announcement today at a joint appearance at the Richland Community Center.

Newhouse will face Republican Clint Didier in November's General Election.
