What comes to mind when somebody says they are an extrovert? Loud, boisterous, opinionated, flamboyant, aggressive, Dave-like?

Do you know somebody you would consider an extrovert? No so fast, Dartmouth researchers say. Extroverts are rare.

They say that when we get to know our close group of friends and their personalities, we tend to think they represent the totality of the average social environment.

Since they're in your inner circle, certain individuals may stand out and appear to be more extroverted than the other average individuals. However scientists say this view is false, your world isn’t the breadth of the social environment and you and your friends are more likely to be more 'normal' than you think.

So how do you know if you or your pals are true extroverts?

For one thing you probably spend a lot of time talking and less time listening. You may also insert yourself into existing conversations, or start conversations without knowing your common ground with someone. Additionally, extroverts seek out situations with more sensory stimulation. (Yahoo)

Sooooo I guess I’m a recovering extrovert! How about you?
