The ACLU bill for services in the Yakima Voting Rights case just got a million dollars lighter. Today Judge Thomas Rice ordered the city to pay the ACLU one-point-eight million in costs for representing Yakima residents Rogelio Montes and Mateo Arteaga. The city had negotiated with the ACLU to lower the original 2-point-eight million figure but had reached an impasse.  The news of a million dollars savings comes on the same day the 9th Circuit rules Yakima must hold its elections under Judge Rice and the ACLU’s seven district system.
