A lot of people in Yakima may be talking about the Welcoming City issue again later this year through a series of meetings proposed by the Dispute Resolution Center of Yakima and Kittitas Counties. Center Executive Director Sarah Augustine says they've created a proposal that calls for a series of meetings in each of the seven council districts. And she says the focus of the meetings wouldn't necessarily be the Welcoming City resolution. "We may begin with a question with a little more broad than that that's not focusing on that point. Our goal then would be to gather a collective understanding from these communities and share that with the council."
She says the report would give an overview of how people felt at the meetings and how the city could move forward.
City officials are now looking at and considering the proposal from the Dispute Resolution Center of Yakima and Kittitas Counties.
