Detectives say they have more questions than answers in a fatal shooting reported in Toppenish on Sunday. Yakima County Sheriff's Chief Ed Levesque says a witness told them 25-year-old Juan Palomino of Toppenish was shot as he was riding in a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 97 and Buster Road. And even though the driver claimed it was a random shooting Levesque doesn't believe that. "It's probable these people somehow knew each other."
The driver claims another driver was following them and at one point made a gesture with his hands to show he was upset. The other driver then opened fire and a bullet struck Palomino who died at Toppenish Hospital. No arrests have been made.
