Facebook
  • A group called Mercy For Animals will hold a demonstration Tuesday at the intersection of E Yakima Ave. and S 2nd St to protest the eating of meat.

The group will have a large inflatable dog wrapped in a hot dog bun asking the public the question “why love one but eat the other?”

Officials from Mercy For Animals will also be handing out literature at the protest that starts at 11:00 a.m.

  • Phone and internet service has been restored to customers in Gleed, Chinook Pass and Naches after thieves stole 1,000 feet of CenturyLink fiber optic and copper cable from the area of S Naches Rd and Powerhouse Rd on Thursday morning.

Service was restored at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft that caused a major outage of phone and internet service to thousands of Centurylink customers who also did not have 911 service.
