The Washington Arts Commission has given Davis High School an $80,000 grant to acquire art for it's renovated campus.  The funding comes from a program, enacted by the 1974 State Legislature, which requires 1/2 of 1 percent  of the cost of a public building project to be dedicated to public art.  Davis High School is in the midst of a $98 million dollar renovation project.

A local committee comprised of art faculty, administrators, students and community members will select the artists for the project.

I’m thrilled to see Davis get this grant,” said Sally Tonkin, photography teacher and author of the grant application. “It’s great recognition of our exciting new campus and of the importance of the arts in learning and living.  Art feeds the soul and the intellect."

The Davis school construction project is scheduled for completion in fall 2015.
