Charity begins at home…right?  Unless your home is in the Northeast.  Researchers from the Chronicle of Philanthropy compared charitable giving and found Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode island and New Hampshire were the least charitable states.  Coincidence that 4 out of 5 are democrat blue state strongholds?  New Hampshire stands out as red in a field of blue but certainly falls in line with regional stinginess. Now you wouldn’t call those Bible belt states by any means…and some researchers says characteristics like religion have a lot to do with how much we give but not all agree.  Still…Utah, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee are the most charitable states and they all have a reputation for being religious states.  Interesting.
