Dave’s Diary: Assault Weapons Ban Shot Down by Reid
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has spoken. It's weak and raspy as always but the majority leader mad it known that Senator Dianne Feinstein’s anti-gun bill that would ban all weapons deemed “assault weapons” has been rejected.
Shot down if you will, to the fear of 100 million gun owners voting in the 2014 mid-term elections.
The bill was written in the wake of several high-profile tragedies including the school shooting in Newton and while certainly millions of Americans remain concerned about gun violence, significant opposition has popped up in response to the Democratic anti-gun hardliners and with an election coming in 2014 Reid figured that was one fire fight he didn’t want.
Sometimes it takes a self serving motivation for a senator to do the right thing.
