Cynthia Lennon Dies

Yesterday, while we here at Newstalk KIT were awaking people up to start their day. I received a message from a friend that a part of our childhood had passed. Cynthia Lennon, John Lennon's ex and the mother of Julian Lennon passed after a brief battle with cancer. Cynthia died at her home in Spain with family by her side. She was 75.

Cynthia and John Lennon met while attending art school in the very early beginnings of the Beatles in Liverpool. Cynthia and John married after she got pregnant with Julian. To help enhance John's image with the female fans, their marriage was kept secret. The couple divorced in 1968 after John Lennon started seeing Yoko Ono. Cynthia had written a couple of books about her life with John, "A Twist of Lennon" and "John." Paul McCartney calls Cynthia "a lovely lady" and "a good mother to Julian." Ringo Starr tweeted, "Peace and love to Julian Lennon. God bless Cynthia."
