Gov. Chris Gregoire has appointed Central Washington University senior Lindsey Sires, from Union Gap, to a position on the university’s board of trustees for the 2012-13 academic year. She becomes the 15th student selected to serve on CWU’s governing board. She replaces student trustee Ivana Trottman, whose 2011-12 term expired on June 30.

“Past student trustees have reaffirmed our belief in the role of students in the governance of the university,” said Sid Morrison, CWU board of trustees chair. “These are challenging days for higher education in this state, and Lindsey will help us find the answers that work for everyone.”

Sires, 21, is majoring in public relations, while minoring in French and nonprofit organization administration. She is also vice president of professional development for CWU’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America; treasurer of Lambda Pi Eta, the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association; and has represented the Associated Students of CWU on Central’s student media board.
