The Central Washington University Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets recently took first place among all ROTC units at the prestigious Sandhurst Competition. They will be honored for that achievement by the Seattle Mariners before the team’s June 12 game at Safeco Field. The team’s captain, Lieutenant Sean Flanagan from Cle Elum, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.

"We’re incredibly honored to be invited and recognized by the Mariners in such a large venue*it’s a little overwhelming,” said Major Jay Cook, CWU military science professor and the team’s coach. “I’m grateful that these newly commissioned officers and cadets are being recognized for all of their hard work and dedication.”
