The body found in a pond near Toppenish on Sunday has been identified as that of 52-year-old Edwin Dufault of Selah.

Yakima County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Mike Russell tells KIT News that Dufault was reported missing to the Selah police department by family members on Nov. 4 of 2013 as family had not seen him for some time.

Russell says an autopsy did not reveal how he died.

”One thing we do know is that the body had been in the water for sometime but drowning has been ruled out as a cause of death. And so we’re doing toxicology tests to try and figure out how this man died.”

Russell also says they are looking for help trying to identify those who would have last had contact with Dufault.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Yakima County Sheriff’s office at 574-2500 or anonymous tips can be called into Crime Stoppers of Yakima at 248-9980 or 800-248-9980.
