THE YAKIMA CITY COUNCIL TUESDAY PASSED AN ORDINANCE BANNING COLLECTIVE GARDENS OR MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES IN THE CITY...

THREE PEOPLE SPOKE OUT IN FAVOR OF THE GARDENS AT THE PUBLIC HEARING, BUT IN THE END, THE COUNCIL GAVE THE THUMBS DOWN TO DISPENSARIES.....MAYOR MICAH CAWLEY SAYS THE CITY DOESN'T WANT  TO GIVE FALSE HOPE THAT YOU CAN SET UP A DISPENSARY OR COLLECTIVE GARDEN WHEN THE FEDS MAY INVESTIGATE YOU, AND ARREST YOU, AND PROSECUTE YOU UNDER FEDERAL LAW,”

GOVERNOR GREGOIRE MADE A BIG PUSH RECENTLY TO REDUCE PUNISHMENT FOR MARIJUANA. SHE WANTS THE DEA TO RECLASSIFY IT AS A "SCHEDULE TWO" DRUG. THE COUNCIL TOLD KIMA THEY JUST WANT TO STAY IN LINE WITH THE FEDS.

CAWLEY SAID THIS IS THE FIRST STEP IN THE TWO STEP PROCESS.
