WSU junior Klay Thompson was the 11th overall selection by the Golden State Warriors becoming just the second Cougar ever to be picked in the first round.  The warriors finished the season with a 36 win 46 loss season.  His shooting eye is compared to Reggie Miller and it’s hoped he provide much needed fire power for new coach Mark Jackson.  Klay Thompson is the son of Mychal Thompson, the No. 1 overall draft pick by Portland in the 1978 NBA draft.

Thompson set WSU’s single season scoring record with 733 points during his junior season in route to leading the Pac-10 in scoring last season at 21.6 points per game.  He also earned a one game suspension for a marijuana possession arrest earlier in the season.
