• The United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization has reported the cost of meat increased 8.1 percent this past year across the world.

    In December - the FAO Meat Price Index decreased nearly two-percent from its November level - mainly influenced by the stronger U.S. dollar and growth in export availability.

    Meat was the only commodity to see a price increase. Overall - the Index was down 3.7-percent from 2013.

  • Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack and members of Congress have joined more than 30 agricultural organizations in the U.S. Agriculture Coalition for Cuba.

    California Representative Sam Farr says agricultural and banking interests must lead the charge on Capitol Hill for changes to the Cuba policy. Vilsack says the changes President Obama has promised to banking laws that require exporters go through third-country banks will make U.S. products more price-competitive.

    When it comes to Cuba - Missouri Governor Jay Nixon says the U.S. is not on a level playing field and cannot ignore 11-million customers just 90 miles from the U.S.
