Fourth District Congressman Dan Newhouse is also a grower in Sunnyside and he and his neighbors are looking for water in the current drought. And Newhouse says he's not only worried about this year but 2016 as well. Newhouse knows the answer is new water storage but he says that won't help this year or next. Newhouse says many growers may have to make tough choices this year. "There will be some purchasing of water. Transfers from one district to another to try and make water stretch. Those that can will leave open fields that's a economic decision people will have to make." And he says even tougher decisions will have to be made in 2016 if the same drought conditions come next winter. Newhouse says he's working on providing more storage for the future but that won't help growers in this water short year.
