Congressional Common Sense Takes A Big Hit – Rep. Trey Gowdy To Step Down

It was not the announcement I wanted to hear.  South Carolina Congressman Harold Watson (Trey) Gowdy III won't be running for re-election and he says he won't run for political office ever again.  Speaking to Politico Gowdy said, "Whatever skills I may have are better utilized in a courtroom than in Congress, and I enjoy our justice system more than our political system".

Politico reports Gowdy even turned down a possible judgeship on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals .

So just how bad is it really in the hallowed halls of swampville?  Gowdy told Politico, “There is more civility in a death penalty case than there is in some congressional hearings."

So the southern gentleman who is Trey Gowdy, whip smart, organized, focused and a lover of the law and America and her people has had enough and we are all the worse off because of it.

Still, ho could blame him given the nature of the D.C. "Swamp".  If he wants to wrestle alligators on a daily basis he can probably find a few in South Carolina.
