The Yakima County Commissioners voted 3-0 to ban the production and sale of pot in the unincorporated areas of Yakima County.  An ordinance will be drafted and formally adopted next week. Today's vote came after several public meetings held by the commissioners and it goes against initiative 502 which legalized the recreational use of marijuana.

The commissioners vote also comes two weeks after the City of Union Gap voted to approve the production, processing and sale of pot. The commissioners action is similar to the action taken by the Yakima City Council earlier this year.
