A wildfire burning south of Wenatchee in the Colockum Pass area has grown to about 39 square miles and is spreading toward a wind farm near Vantage.

Fire spokeswoman Karen Ripley says the fire has burned three homes and several outbuildings since breaking out Saturday. About 60 residences have been evacuated.

Ripley says fire officials are working on a plan to stop the fire at a ridge north of the Wild Horse wind farm, which was about eight miles from the flames on Monday afternoon.

She estimates the fire is at least two days away from that point.

About 300 people are working on the fire, with assistance from multiple helicopters. Firefighters focused Monday on keeping the fire out of forested lands to the west.
