VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Health officials have confirmed the first case of Zika virus in Clark County.

Officials say a woman in her 60's was exposed to the virus while traveling in Central America and that her case poses no risk to the public.

Zika is transmitted by mosquito bites, and the strain of mosquitoes that carry the virus does not live in the Northwest.

As of Monday, the Washington State Department of Health reported 23 Zika cases had been confirmed in Washington state.
