The public will be able to speak to the city council concerning the City of Yakima's 2014 budget at a meeting soon.

On December 3rd the council plans to hear from the public with any questions or suggestions they might have. KNDO reports that the city has an estimated $57 million next year nearly $4 million more than this year.

The city is planning to focus the budget on increasing public safety by spending nearly $800 thousand on expanding the police force. Other major projects include $11 million to improve the Yakima Air Terminal, $2 million to begin renovation of the Cascade Mill Site and $170,000 to begin the design of a Yakima Plaza, part of the Downtown Master Plan.
