The Yakima City Council will hold a study session on the issue of homelessness later this month.

City Manager Tony O'Rourke says a meeting is set for Oct. 8 and will give the city a chance to review the problem of homelessness and its impact on Yakima.

O’Rourke says, “we know there’s always been a problem with homelessness but we seem to be getting a lot of people from outside the area coming into Yakima.”

That is a problem says O'Rourke. He and other city leaders want to know what is attracting people to the Yakima area and how the city can address the problem.

The study session is set for 10:00 a.m. at city hall.
