Last month Yakima City officials held meetings to hear your ideas about downtown Yakima. Next month some of those ideas will be in the form of conceptual drawings for you to vote on. Community and Economic Development Director Sean Hawkins says all the ideas have been put together in a package to present to the public. Suggestions at the meetings held in May included the trolleys in downtown Yakima and the creation of a plaza. Both will be shown in drawings at the meeting planned. “We want to bring the ideas to life so people can say that works and that does not work. We want input from Yakima.” The city has not yet set a date for the next meeting but Hawkins says it will be in early July.
