City Manager Don Cooper Resigning

He spent less than 5 months as the new Yakima City Manager, but now 61 year old Don Cooper is leaving. He’s submitted his Letter of Resignation, saying he must return to Florida to care for an ill family member. Cooper took over the city manager position in September after a nationwide search. Cooper filled the shoes of Dick Zais who retired after 32 years with the city. The City Council has called a special meeting at 5:00 tonight to talk further about the resignation and to begin the process of finding a new city manager.
