City Council to Vote on Mayor, Pot

KIT

The Yakima city council will have some major events that happen in their second meeting of 2014 Tuesday night.

It all starts with a new member of the council taking the oath of office. Than new member Thomas Dittmar could end up being the deciding vote in the city mayor race. The mayor’s race was split three three in the last meeting but with a new council member appointed last week, the city mayoral election will be decided tomorrow night.

There is also expected to be a vote on a proposed ordinance to ban marijuana sales within city limits. The Yakima City Planning Commission last week recommended the city pass the pot sales ban.

The council meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. at city hall.
