The Executive Director of Yakima Valley Trolleys is confident the city will continue to support the historical trolley system. Karl Paston will attend a special study session Tuesday at city hall in which the city will talk about the future of the system that's in need of more than $8 million in repairs. Paston tells KIT News. "That is a lot of money but that's what happens when you see 20 years of deferred maintenance that's what you end up with."  Specifically the system is in need of about $8.8 million in repairs which includes work on trolley cars. Paston says he's hoping the city will agree to invest in making repairs. He says if the city will cover a portion of the costs the remainder can be gained through State, Federal and private grants and investors. But he says the first commitment must come from the owner of the system, the city. The meeting is set for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Yakima City Hall.
