Tuesday night's Yakima City Council meeting was contentious, and in the end the council decided to not hold an advisory vote in 2015 on the proposed downtown plaza.

The council voted 4-3 against the vote, which means the plaza work can continue to move forward. That makes people like Jessica Moskwa very happy. She is the co-founder of I Heart Yakima, a group formed to talk about and promote the good things about Yakima.

Moskwa says the plaza is a big plus for the city.

Council members Kathy Coffey, Dave Ettl, Maureen Adkison and Micah Cawley voted against holding the vote and instead moving forward on the project. Now, city officials say, they can get to work on finding funding to make the project a reality.
