The Yakima city council Tuesday voted 4-3 against closing the parking lot in front of the Capital Theater for up to a week to see the impact it would have on downtown parking. The proposal was an idea of councilman Bill Lover who along with council members Dulce Gutierrez and Holly Cousins voted for the closure while others voted no.
The council Tuesday also directed city staff to schedule meetings with local trucking companies to talk about city truck routes and come up with recommendations for the Yakima city council to consider in the future.
And the council talked about expanding the Downtown Yakima Business Improvement District. The council voted in favor of directing staff to talk to business owners downtown about being a part of the expansion.
