Yakima City Council put in place an six-month moratorium on the applications process for locating adult businesses within city limits. The city council adopted the emergency ban following an executive session during their regular meeting. This action is in response to a U.S. District Court ruling that went against the city's use of compatibility as a basis for the for the denial of an application to locate as adult business, according to the emergency ordinance. The ruling comes from the denial of a south First Street strip club two years ago. The moratorium is in immediate effectively. A public hearing will take place August 21 on the moratorium.
