A new graffiti removal program, approved by the city council this week is expected to be in operation in Yakima  within the next two months. A volunteer staff will remove the graffiti from area homes and businesses, but before graffiti is removed Yakima police gang officers want to be able to view the markings for investigative purposes.

Making sure gang unit officers view the graffiti is part of the new program to hopefully cut down the vandalism and begin holding some people responsible.

When the new graffiti removal program is up and running residents will have a hotline to report the graffiti and volunteers will be sent out to clean it up.
