City Could Build Plaza to Allow Parking

Not all parking will be moved to other areas if the city decides to create a downtown plaza says City Manger Tony O'Rourke.

O'Rourke understands the concern of some business owners who are concerned about the relocation of parking spaces if the current parking lot in front of the Capital Theater is turned into a downtown plaza.

O'Rourke says, "We can design the plaza in a way that it can be used for both parking and a plaza." He says there could be times of the year when the plaza is not being used.

Most of the parking spaces would be moved to other nearby areas.

The city is now in the process of forming retail and implementation committees.
