Yakima's Neighborhood and Community Building Committee meets on Thursday and among the topics to discuss is the issue of homelessness in the city and possibly the welcoming city resolution that was passed to the committee by the city council after the issue was defeated in a 4-3 vote last Tuesday.
On the issue of homelessness city officials are now focused on what to do after cold weather shelters close on March 15. The city is looking at possibly creating a new homeless encampment somewhere within city limits.
The meeting is set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Yakima City hall.
