On Tuesday the council began preparations for 2015 and that started by looking at the budget and for the second year in a row, public safety was at the top of the spending list.

The new budget includes money for two new officers, a part-time police recruiter and a police applications specialist.

City manager Tony O'Rourke helped create the budget and hopes the continued focus on public safety makes an impact on how people feel about the city. The new budget also sets money aside for some capitol projects including $3.5 million for the Boise Cascade mill site and $12.5 million to improve the airport.

There are no new taxes included with the $205 million budget and overall spending is down $2.3 million compared to this year.
