This year's Cinco de Mayo celebration in Yakima marks its 15th anniversary this weekend with a two-day festival hosted by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in the heart of downtown.

The free, family-friendly event annually draws 20,000 attendees and is also now one of the longest-running annual events in downtown Yakima as well.

This year's festival will open at 9 a.m. Saturday (May 7) and will run until 9 p.m. The festival grounds will be open Sunday (May 8) from 9 a.m.-7:15 p.m.
Portions of the downtown area will be closed to traffic during these times to facilitate the activities, including: Yakima Avenue between First and Third streets, Second Street from about a half-block north of Yakima Avenue to about a half-block south of Yakima Avenue, and Third Street between Chestnut and Yakima avenues.

Attractions include: food vendors, kids activities, handmade crafts, music, dancing, street soccer and basketball tournaments, a custom car and bike show, and the Miss Cinco de Mayo pageant.
