The standard movie & TV line for medication has been “take two and call me in the morning”.  That bit of advice could become all the more encouraging if it’s a chocolate pill that we’re talking about!A neurology professor writing in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease is calling for the development of a dietary supplement made from cocoa extract.  Researchers say cocoa is “a natural source to maintain and promote brain health, and in particular to prevent age-related neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.”

Discovery News says the phytochemicals in cocoa may also help protect against everything from cancer to heart disease to high blood pressure. Other research suggests that dark chocolate may help stabilize blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of obesity --but only if sugar isn’t added to it.
