Gotta put on my travelin’ shoes. (you know the ones that come off easily in line for TSA security at the airport)

If you've been waiting to save money on booking a flight, get ready. The magical day to start your itinerary is almost here -- August 23rd.

If you make sure your trip begins on August 23rd or later, you'll enjoy an average price drop of 15 to 20 percent depending on where you're traveling from and where you're going. That could save you some real money so why now? Simple supply and demand?

Fox News reports the price drop happens because it's the time of year when a lot of kids go back to school and demand for travel drops off sharply. As a result, airlines try to lure you back with discounted ticket prices.

This particular savings period will last through mid to late October, at which time many prices dip a little more. To avoid the highest prices, you'll want to avoid traveling right around Thanksgiving and Christmas, as they are peak travel periods. ( Fox)
