CHARLOTTE, N.C., CHOSEN FOR DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION: The Democratic National Committee announced yesterday (February 1st) that Charlotte, North Carolina, has been chosen as the site of the 2012 Democratic National Convention. The choice of the Southern city signals that President Obama will try to reassemble the coalition that helped him win in 2008 and fight for the GOP-leaning states like North Carolina that he was the first Democrat to win in decades. Charlotte beat out Cleveland, Minneapolis and St. Louis for the convention. The Democrats will be gathering in Charlotte during the week of September 3, 2012, just days after the Republicans hold their convention in Tampa, Florida.
