It won’t be long before it will be time to start transitioning the kids sleep schedule to get them ready for back to school. Kids, sleep and school can be the trifecta of frustration for a lot of parents.  I myself was not an easy riser. Now a new report out from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that most middle and high schools start their days too early, not allowing young people to get enough sleep for their development and for success in school.

According to the CDC, less than 20 percent of middle and high schools in the U.S. start at 8:30 a.m. or later, which is what's recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In 42 states, 75 percent to 100 percent of public schools started before 8:30 a.m., with an average start time of 8:03 a.m.
