We Miss Our Buddy Brian Teegarden — Dave’s Diary

It’s a beautiful weekend in Yakima. The sun is shining and the flowers are blooming and everything should be great. But it’s not. We are a little sad around the radio ranch these days since a corporate reorganization cost the employment of our friend and co-worker Brian Teegarden, the heart and soul of KIT for nearly four decades. Earth Day 2015 at the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy — Dave’s Diary

Has it really been 45 years since the first Earth Day?  I remember it as a pretty big deal back then and for many it still is. April 22 is the official day, but you can celebrate Saturday the 18th with the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy’s Earth Day Walk from 10 a.m. to noon at the Weikel Road trailhead.

Men Better At Cooking Than Women? — Dave’s Diary

Its the weekend and a man's place is behind the grill right? Old school thinking used to be that a woman’s place was barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen --and if you said it today you might get shot.

Stubbed Toe Is A Disproportionate Experience! – Dave’s Diary

So here’s the scene: It’s the middle of the night, I wake up thirsty and don’t want to wake up wife or daughter next door as I get up to go to the kitchen for a glass of water.  All is quiet and going well until in the dark I discover where Dewey the wonder dog left his new ginormous bone!  I respond - and now everyone is awake including I’m sure, several of the neighbors down the block!

The news out of Disney’s shareholder meeting keeps on coming. This one isn’t much of a surprise: Disney is making Frozen 2. In a related story, the sky is blue and water is wet (until a princess with freezing powers comes along and turns it into ice).

Happy Birthday, Baby Barbie — Much Joy Do You Bring — Dave’s Diary

If you would have asked me 30 years ago if, at 60-plus,  I would be in any way interested in information about Mattel’s “Barbie” I would have told you that I may have once had a brief passing interest in The Barbie Twins but certainly not the Barbie Doll! Well, what a difference a Gator makes. Katelyn Autumn Ettl is my 6-year-old “gator” girl and she loves her Barbie Dolls. I take her shopping for them, I help get them dressed when Mom is busy and I help pick them up when they take over the house.
