Kung Fu Master Say it’s OK To Be Typical Man — Dave’s Diary

I'm pretty sure I once heard Kwai Chang Cain, that Kung Fu guy from TV, say something once about true freedom being achieved when you no longer worry about keeping up with the Jones's.  We are always comparing, always trying to see where we fit on the scale of normal.

Yakima is Sooo Polite When We Take A Dig! — Dave’s Diary

I swear (figuratively, not literally) I'll never understand what pushes people's buttons on social media.

We search for what we hope will be interesting topics and share what we think are interesting opinions ... (crickets chirping) ... and get very little feedback or engagement.

Like The USA Team, Soccer Fails To Score On The Morning News – Dave’s Diary

Thursday morning on the Morning News with Dave & Lance we talked a bit about soccer and the world cup craziness.  We tried to find soccer’s appeal and we certainly found its faults as a spectator sport.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow: Yale Lab Grows Full Head of Hair — Dave’s Next!

The curse of the mother’s father may have met its match!

My dad’s dad had a great full head of white hair. Dad had a full head of dark hair up to the day he passed at 84. Me, not so much and me, none too happy about it. I joke about being in radio because hair loss drove me from my television career! They say the mother’s father will determine the son’s hair follicular future!  Thanks for nuthin’ Grandpa Bud!

Dave Defends the Council Responding To The Political Machine — Dave’s Diary

I’m getting better at not taking the bait, not feeling the need to defend or challenge every printed swipe at city council.  I’ve been on council for 4 ½ years and we aren’t perfect and we’ve made mistakes for which we deserve our lumps but I still feel defensive when attacks, subtle or overt, aren’t justified.

Auditor’s Race: Tell the Truth, Keep it Fair — Dave’s Diary

Five months to the primary and the campaign season for local politics is already underway.  There are lots of folks running for a variety of positions but is one race worth watching as much for who is running as it is for the activities behind the scenes

Public Incivility And The E-Cigarette — Here We Go Again — Dave’s Diary

So in today’s latest installment of “the council is a bunch of morons” and “there goes my freedoms” we find E-cigarettes or E-cigs as the reason. Late last year the city council acted on some council and citizen complaints about less than courteous smokers and took action to provide a breathable buffer between smokers and non-smoking folks and families at city parks near playgrounds and at public events

What Is Responsible Journalism — Dave’s Diary

Here we go again. Another chapter in the never ending saga of Dave vs “the newspaper”.

What’s the problem this time?  The Yakima Herald Republic (yhr) published a story where a resident who frequently comes to council accuses me of disrespect and taking every opportunity for verbal abuse her

The Long and Short and Really Long Answer on Marijuana — Dave’s Diary

Are you tired of talking about Marijuana?  I have to admit I finally am!  I have written thousands of word about it and the council will vote this week whether or not to ban recreational grow/package and sales operations in city limits.  I gave made the case for it a zillion? times but I got drawn into what I hope will be one last conversation in the posted comments to the article in the Yakima Herald Republic about the Attorney General's opinion on the legal status of city bans.
