Five months to the primary and the campaign season for local politics is already underway. There are lots of folks running for a variety of positions but is one race worth watching as much for who is running as it is for the activities behind the scenes
So in today’s latest installment of “the council is a bunch of morons” and “there goes my freedoms” we find E-cigarettes or E-cigs as the reason. Late last year the city council acted on some council and citizen complaints about less than courteous smokers and took action to provide a breathable buffer between smokers and non-smoking folks and families at city parks near playgrounds and at public events
Here we go again. Another chapter in the never ending saga of Dave vs “the newspaper”.
What’s the problem this time? The Yakima Herald Republic (yhr) published a story where a resident who frequently comes to council accuses me of disrespect and taking every opportunity for verbal abuse her
Are you tired of talking about Marijuana? I have to admit I finally am! I have written thousands of word about it and the council will vote this week whether or not to ban recreational grow/package and sales operations in city limits. I gave made the case for it a zillion? times but I got drawn into what I hope will be one last conversation in the posted comments to the article in the Yakima Herald Republic about the Attorney General's opinion on the legal status of city bans.
Tonight I was sworn in for a second four year term on Yakima’s City Council. What and honor to be able to serve and have a say in the future direction for our hometown. Thanks again to all those who voted and little extra thanks to those who voted for me. Tonight the council also voted for the next Mayor and we did what I feared most. We turned our backs on the best choice to make government work for the voters.
Checking the responses to various media websites carrying the story about the city's decision to move ahead with the Plaza plan, it's become clear there is a shortage of accurate information out there .
Thanks Yakima! Thank you for a primary vote of confidence on the job the city council is doing right now. I realize that elections are snapshots in time and that your opinion of me and the council’s performance could change rather quickly but that for now, we seem to be doing ok.
Hi, Dave Ettl here to address the many questions posed to me about the city council's NO vote on the 2/3 supermajority for tax increases. Why did we do what we did? One more time, speaking for myself, I'm happy to explain
Are we bored with local politics yet? I hope not because it’s about to get interesting and it starts with a letter to the editor in the YHR today. The letter is called “time for a change” and it’s about me and why I need to go! Ouch!
