“College Goal Washington” takes place at Heritage University in Toppenish on Friday, January 2, 2015. At the event, Heritage University staff will show students and families how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), required to apply for federal financial assistance for higher education. Low income, non-citizen students unable to file a FAFSA due to immigration status may instead complete the free Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA). Students will receive complete instructions for successfully completing and submitting their FAFSA and WASFA.

Even students who have not made a decision about college are recommended to attend the College Goal Washington event. Along with getting help filling out the FAFSA and WASFA, students can learn more about the full tuition Heritage Soar Scholarship Program and other scholarship opportunities. More information about the Soar scholarships can be found at HUSoar.com.

Attendees will need to bring the following items to the event:

  • Social security card number or Alien registration card
  • Driver’s license or identification card
  • Income information (Bank statements; a W-2 or pay stub; past tax return if filed)
  • A parent if you are under 24
  • Parents’ financial information
  • Parents’ social security numbers, if they have one
  • Any additional financial information (child support payments, TANF or welfare info, etc.)

More than 90% of Heritage undergraduate students qualify for federal, state or institutional aid, and College Goal Washington helps them explore all sources of funding. The event will be held January 2, 2015 from 2-7 p.m. in Petrie Hall, Room #1111 at Heritage University, 3240 Fort Road, Toppenish WA. College Goal Washington is an initiative of the Washington Student Achievement Council.
