Yakima continues to battle the area's graffiti problem. Yakima police say they have 20 graffiti cameras positioned in specific areas of the city. The cameras take pictures when they see movement and help police catch graffiti vandals. However the cameras are not checked unless someone complains about the vandalism. Police then review the film to see if they can identify a suspect. Each camera cost about $5,000 and were paid for with a state grant.
