OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Republican leaders in the House say that one of their members should resign if he can't prove he did not knowingly exaggerate his military service.

Rep. Graham Hunt, R-Orting, has faced increasing questions about his military record since The Seattle Times reported earlier this month that records did not verify his claims of being a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. He also claimed three medals the military has no record of him receiving.

On Wednesday, the newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/1lXcas8) that House Minority Leader Dan Kristiansen, R-Snohomish, said he has told Hunt he needs to clear up the questions surrounding him or else step down.

Hunt, who served in the Arizona National Guard, insists he hasn't mislead anyone and says he is continuing to search for records. But he altered his official online biography after the newspaper raised questions.
