SPOKANE (AP) -- The National Weather Service says the lowest temperatures of the season so far are expected Tuesday night in Eastern Washington.

Forecasters expect lows of 3 to 9 degrees, and highs Wednesday won't get out of the teens.

Western Washington will also be cold Tuesday night with lows of 15 to 25 degrees. Highs Wednesday under sunny skies could reach the 40s.

The Weather Service says temperatures will moderate slightly through the end of the week.

A chance of rain returns to Western Washington by the weekend with lows in the 30s and highs in the 40s.

There's a slight chance of weekend snow or freezing rain in Eastern Washington with lows in the teens and highs in the 20s.
